The SE Texas coast has a low pressure system nearby. That low is going to suck up water, bring it onshore and dump it on our heads. I really like the rain and God knows this area has needed it all summer. My grass actually has a greenish tinge to it now, instead of looking like a giant field of shredded wheat. There is a high probability of a storm today and not just in the sky.
We are scheduled to work an event today in Kemah. Kemah is 75 miles SE of Katy where I live. It sits directly on the water. The event is at the Kemah Boardwalk. It is a children’s festival. In the past we’ve done very well there. However, since last year when we did it last, my hands have really crapped out, face painting wise, and the Boardwalk saw how much we were making on the sand art, so they are doing it themselves now. So our biggest two money makers are out. I also just found out that they’re letting the Mad scientist bring spin art. Another thing we did last time. That leaves us with only candle making.
When the kids make a candle they pour tiny wax beads into a small glass, then we insert the wick and melt the wax with a torch to seal the top. It doesn’t work well in wind and wet. Anyway, Doug got up early to get everything loaded in the Taurus so we could go. I just got a call from Brett who’s with him. He said it is his dad’s plan to drop us there to work the event, while he comes back to Houston to continue renovations on a house that he’s almost done with. The minute Brett heard the plan he called me to clue me in. All I said was “I don’t think so.” He yelled over to Doug. “Mom said you plan sucks ***”. Did I mention that this event is outside? We would be under a small tent exposed to the elements. Been there, done that.
I understand wanting to make the money at the event. If there was any to make. My point is that not many parents are going to drive all the way from Houston (50 miles) with horrid weather predicted. Usually Doug and I get along really well. Even if we don’t see eye-to-eye on everything we can meet somewhere in the middle where we can both handle the compromise. I get a feeling that today, not so much. Doug should be back here soon. Wish me luck. Today’s trivia answer-6 inches.

Good Luck ;)
