pretty feetI used to wear a 6.5 shoe. Now that I’ve gotten older, and had two kids I wear a 7. My toes are nice and neat with each one being slightly shorter than the one next to it. Doug has always said that I have Fred Flintstone feet.

I heard about a study that said over 50% of women are embarrassed by their feet. (Finally a group that exists with a body issue that I’m unconcerned with). I had seen a segment on TV featuring cosmetic surgery for feet. It had a surgeon performing a toe-shortening procedure during the show. I can understand wanting to have a cosmetic procedure so you feel better about yourself. I’ve never attended a reunion for my high school. However, I’m going to mine on Oct. 4th. I’m considering getting a syringe or two of “youth” before I attend. Apparently however, most of the women doing this are doing it just so they can wear high heels. That I cannot understand.

High heels force the back to arch, pushing the boobs forward and the butt back, thereby accentuating the female form. I guessing that most of the women undergoing this procedure are still single. Doug loves it when I wear high heels. (Lucky for me I can just wear them for him while still in the house these days). When I’m dressed up to go out, it’s maybe a 3″ heel for me, nothing higher, usually shorter. Besides no one wants me teetering around in public on stilts. (I not nearly as sure-footed these days as I used to be).

On the other end of the foot, so to speak, are the women who have a brachymetatarsia. They take what they perceive to be their stubby toes and have them lengthened. I was really unaware that all these cosmetic procedures were being one to the feet.  Some women are actually concerned now if they don’t have toe cleavage these days. Be forewarned that according to Vogue there are style rules about toe clevage too. What could possibly be next? I’m not sure I want to know.

Ghetto PedicureI can’t be done with all this “toe-do” without highlighting one last toe-related issue. I couldn’t believe it the first time I saw it. Here you go, for all of you who thought they’d seen everything- Ghettoes.

Is this fashion forward? I sure hope not. Today’s Trivia Answer- in the pancreas.
