Bodacious Boomer

I was a little girl in the 50′s, the era of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. I always liked Snow White best, because she had dark hair like I did.  When I was in 1st grade I was in the school Christmas play, way back when schools could still do “religious” plays.  I was chosen to be a shepherd because I had long, dark hair.  That made me mad, even at the age of 6. I really wanted to be an angel and get to wear a halo and wings, but nooo, all the angles were blonds or redheads. I got to wear a tattered old robe. (Discrimination in 1st grade- go figure). After that, my mom always tried to make me feel good about having dark hair. Over the years, I came to love it. I only wish it looked now like it did then. Oh well…

On the Today show this morning they were discussing a new ad campaign by Australia’s Jamison Brewery. It shows a skanky looking Snow White blowing smoke rings while in bed with the 7 dwarfs. Instead of Sleepy, Happy and Doc, they now have Filthy, Smarmy, and Randy. The ad agency behind the campaign said the ad was intended to convince the consumers that their fruit flavored beer was “anything but sweet”. I have to admit, when I saw it I laughed. Call me sick or twisted, but I thought it was funny. According to reports, the Foundry, the agency behind the campaign, says they have had “a little bit of contact” with Disney over the issue. I bet. I think that statement is like saying the Titanic had a small leak. Links to the campaign and the website for the beer have already been disabled.

I hope  the Foundry got a ton,  more than a ton for doing this and they’ve already stashed it in some off shore account somewhere. Because when the Disney lawyers get done with them they won’t have a pot to pee in. I knew a face painter who used to paint Winnie the Pooh on kids. She made the mistake of doing it in Florida at a festival. Someone from Disney saw her and she was later contacted in Texas by their attorney. Not sure what happened after that. I do know though that Disney protects their own with a vengeance. The only company more zealous in that way is Apple. Apparently that has been a clip on YouTube awhile about Ho White. However, it’s not related to the Jamieson ad. I bet there will be a lot of Ho Whites out and about for Halloween this year. Today’s trivia answer- 3/4 gallon.
