It’s Monday morning and for the first time in awhile I’m feeling like myself. I think it’s a good thing. I got up and started watching the Today show,  reading CNN.com and USAToday.com to get caught up with what’s been going on in the world. It seems to me at first glance that I haven’t missed any world changing event in the last two weeks. That’s good to know. (One of the the things that I usually pride myself on is keeping up with current events). Usually after I read an article I read the comments, occasionally putting in my two cents, as the old saying goes. But unlike most people it would appear, I stay on topic. If the article is about a movie, I talk about the movie. Sounds logical, correct? One would think. However, I truly seem to be in the minority. What is it with all the people who try to turn every item printed in the media into some type of political boiling pot? I really hate that.

When there’s an article in the news about a child rescued from a well, some buffoon always has to put their political spin on it. Do you know why the child fell down the well to begin with? Do you know who’s at fault? It’s easy- either George Bush or Barack Obama- or Barack Obama or George Bush. (I am not here to make a political statement of ANY kind). I’m sending my thoughts on this to both USAToday.com and CNN.com. I feel sure that nothing will happen if, not when, my missive is read. On a number of blogs comments are not posted until the moderator approves them. I think that would be a great idea for all these news sites. Let all the comments, both pro and con be posted. Just delete the comments that go off topic.

If the article is about the economy, jobs, political scandal, money, etc. then by all means rant on- you’re in the right place and perhaps even on topic. People in the government either past or present may have had something to do with it. But enough already on everything else. I know it may be hard to believe, however perhaps I just want to read about the dog or cat in the article and not read all your pontificating BS. If you want to see your political opinion in print then either send a letter to the editor, write a book or start your own blog. Today’s trivia answer-6 months.

One Response so far.

Thank You! I can’t stand off topic comments! As far as current events I stay out of the loop for the most part unless I can’t help it. It was two days after “The balloon boy” was found that I had a clue about it. I think I was at the store and I overheard someone in line say something about it. I said something like “John Travolta was terrible in that movie” I got some of the craziest looks!
