I would have stripped the dad buck naked and left him in the wilderness after that. I'm glad Skipper got to stay and have a good home. I've always thought that someone who would hurt an animal would also hurt a person.

I consider myself a dog person like you and That story is as heartwarming as it gets... When I was just a pup we had some rather horrible next door neighbors that treated their dog so mean. I guess I should rephrase that. It was the father who did. I think he expected the dog, Skipper to be house trained without any training. Anyway one day the father took the dog on a long trip in the car. His son was with him and they were gone all day. When they got home Skipper wasn't with them. The father told us he had found Skipper a better home. Four days later Skipper came limping home. His paws bleeding and completely emaciated and dehydrated he still managed to find his way back. It turned out as you probably guessed Skipper was relocated in the wilderness. It's just miraculous how the canine mind can find home no matter how far away the dog must walk. Skipper went on to be loved and kept by the family for many years but the father was made to leave and never came back.
