What are you up to tonight?
Posted in Blatherings on 12/31/2009 11:31 am by MicheleOK. The day of the big night is here. It’s New Year’s Eve day. Today is the day to wrap up any loose ends. Tidy up your life in preparation for a fresh start tomorrow. Hopefully you took advantage of Good Riddance day yesterday. But if you didn’t, don’t despair, I have it on good authority that’s it’s not too late to bid your flock of albatrosses goodbye and fly solo into the new year without them weighting you down. Hurry and do it now!
A few year’s back I face painted at the Hyatt Regency in Houston on New Year’s Eve. It was OK, money-wise. I think I did about $500. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed my patience for being around inebriated folks is dwindling. The last time I was around a drunk, Doug and I were invited to a swinger’s club in San Antonio. The lovely gentleman who extended the invitation said once you got there, you got naked and walked about, looking to hook up with a consenting couple. (I can’t begin to imagine why this guy extended this very special type of invitation to us). We passed up his once in a lifetime invite and went back to the Motel 6.
Tomorrow Doug and I are going to Austin to participate in their First Night celebration. So while everybody else is getting their New Year’s Eve finery on in expectation of a fabulous soiree, I’ll be getting ready to do some face and body painting, starting at 4pm. Since I’ll be working outside and it’s predicted to be in the low 40′s, I’m guessing I won’t do that much body painting. We’ll see. I’m taking the camera. Hopefully, I’ll get some photos to share.
Those creative folks at Jib Jab came up with a cute bit to wrap up 2009. Be forewarned, there’s political spoofing in this. For the most part, I’m not a political being, so I usually find most political humor funny, regardless of which side is being mocked. So here you go-. Have a great and safe New Year’s Eve tonight. I’ll talk to you all next year.
