Brrrrrrrrrrrr

thermometerThe wind outside is gusting up to 35 MPH outside right now. It’s 38 degrees and feels like 27. It’s going down to 22 degrees tonight. I’ve got no plans to go anywhere. However I’ve got a real problem. As you may or may not know, my next door neighbor lost her house and in the process abandoned her two cats. She never let them in the house or fed them on a regular basis. So we’ve been feeding them for awhile. Sadly, David, the big, sweet orange tabby was hit by a car a couple of months ago. Dakota still comes to me for food everyday.

Dakota has been hanging out under the bushes in front of my house since his owner moved. Knowing that the cold front was coming, I made a shelter for him last night. I had one of those big plastic zippered bags that a comforter is sold in. I cut a pretty big hole in it and put Doug’s old robe in it so Dakota could snuggle into it. I also put a heating pad under the robe and a bowl of food in there. I showed it to him last night, but he wouldn’t go in.

I can’t bring him in here with 6 dogs.  It wouldn’t be a good thing. And my garage is packed to the rafters with all the important “stuff ” I haven’t been able to pry out of Doug’s hands. With the wind chill it’s going to be in the single digits at night for the next 4 nights. Any of you cat people have a good idea for me? I’d be really upset if anything happened to him.
