Heeeee’s Baaaaack!

Too much?

Too much?

NBC interrupted their regular network program this morning for a breaking news report. In the past, they’ve broken in for things like the massacres at Virginia Tech or Fort Hood. They always break in when the President Obama speaks. I think almost everybody’s ears perk up when they hear that music that identifies a breaking news report. I guess I just didn’t realize that a contrition by a philanderer garnered a breaking news report. Silly me.

I heard that familiar tune this morning, and looked up to see what breaking news was important enough to disrupt network programming? It was Tiger Woods 14 minute Mea Culpa. I’ll admit, he sounded remorseful. I hope he truly is. His statement was carefully scripted, as was the audience. His advisers had hand- picked the people who were in the audience. Before the statement they had all agreed to ask him no questions.

There was analysis of his apology afterward. It was said that he mentioned his wife’s name 14 times- one time a minute. I’m not sure what I’d do in Elin’s place. I’m glad that I don’t have to. I’m afraid I might have to insist that he be chipped with a  Lo-Jack. I know, I know, the whole trust thing. As I said, I’m glad I’m not in her position; and believe me, he is too.

Well I guess we’ll all see how it works out for him. (I don’t think we’ll be able to avoid it). I don’t mean to sound like such a pessimist, but maybe I am; at least in this situation.  I do wish them luck though.
