I saw something this morning that I’d not seen before. A young (22 yrs. old) man was attending his own wake while sitting astride a motorcycle. I feel lucky that I haven’t had to attend many funerals thus far in my life. However, at the few I have attended the deceased has usually been either laying in a coffin- open or not, or chilling out in their urn.
Although I find the whole motorcycle thing interesting, it is a tad on the creepy side for me. And what kind of example is he setting for kids riding without a helmet? If this really starts catching on though there will be no limit as to how people will want to be posed. That could be very interesting and yet potentially quite disturbing at the same time. Imagine a guy who envisioned himself a “player”. EWW…
Apparently this same funeral home in Puerto Rico did a whole “Weekend at Bernie’s” thing with a different guy awhile back. He actually stood for three entire days at his wake. Now normally I enjoy a get together as much as the next person; but I just can’t imagine standing around at my own wake. Call me old-fashioned.
So I ask you, is this creepy or cool?
