Doug and I just got back from a one day event in San Antonio. It was quite a day- the biggest day we’ve had in at least a year. Since everybody had to take coupons (which we loathe) no one knows exactly how they did til later this week. However, looking at what few supplies we have left I can approximate how the activities part of the booth did. I painted continuously from 9am til 6pm, without a break to eat, drink, or even pee. (Thank God I was prepared and wore a pair of Astro-nut approved industrial strength Depends. They got her from Houston to Florida after all.) How that head case got through all the NASA screening is still beyond me.
Of course my right shoulder right now is totally trashed, which I expected. But now my left shoulder is also strained from all the patting myself on the back. I worked fast, really fast and did it without complaint. At one point Doug cleared a space next to me so he could sit and paint too, lessening my work. However, he hasn’t painted in years, and having been a business major, art was never in his soul, and it shows in his paintings. (I just couldn’t do that to the kids.)
While painting I kept talking to people about my faux-paus trying to gather more opinions so I could make an informed decision. After all, this just might affect the 10-12 loyal readers that I have.
I even contacted The Midlife Gals in Austin. They are just fabulous. They’re two sassy, self-confident sisters whose blog I just love to read. I posed the question to them: What do you do with hate email? They’re response? “We delete them and think, fuck THEM! Just don’t let it get to you. It’s cyberspace and there are a LOT of whack-a-doos! Block them if you can. Your beloved fans are your audience!”
Also, I’ve garnered a lot of support from my readers at Vibrant Nation. So, I’ve made a decision. Just like Popeye says “I am what I am and that’s all that I am.” I wouldn’t know how to change; besides I think I’d really hate myself if I did just because a few narrow minded people strongly suggested that I should.
Love me or leave me; but I’d prefer it if you’d love me. (At this point I guess I’m still insecure.) Thanks again to everyone who has contacted me offering support. You all are just great!

I enjoyed our brief chat today. Don’t let anyone get you down! We all have people on our ass but because you put yourself out there on the internet you have just one or two more than the rest of us with the potential to get more. I hope you get a chance to meet Chelsea soon!
Our chat was nice indeed and made the trip home more enjoyable. If we can swing a trip up your way, you can be sure we’ll stop by.
