OK, I admit it. I’ve been moved for almost 3 months and stuff is still not put away. I still have some boxes to go through, especially in the rooms I’m not in all the time. I’m in our home office now, AKA extra bedroom, AKA barf central after yesterday.
The pack is always with me when I’m in here, taking turns at the window and letting out low grumbles to full throated howls at whatever they perceive to be a threat- be it a squirrel, cat, bird or dog that might cross their line of sight.
So far, none of the above have laid siege to our house, so I guess their warnings are being heeded.
There’s been a box on the floor near the window since we moved. I don’t have to step over to do anything so I’ve just let it be. In their scramble to get to the window to defend their happy home, the pack has managed over the three months to get the box open. In it was a bunch of Amanda’s schoolwork from way back when.
I saw report cards and worksheets- all the usual kind of stuff that moms keep over time. I was thinking I would just seal it up tight and give it to her to keep at her house. But instead I started looking more closely at things and found this: The Crazy Family. The cover was colorful and I thought it’d be fun to look at.
Then I saw this-
I don’t remember this and I think that’s probably a good thing.
Apparently back then I’d been taken over by an alien who had a really pissy attitude. I’m surprised I didn’t get a visit by CPS or at the very least a call from her teacher.
I know one thing for sure. This was in my pre-medication period for sure. Go figure.
Mommy is much happier these days- at long as she has her meds.
I can relate. I have two boxes filled with old pictures and some school projects/drawings. What fun it is to peruse and remember the past. My ex wants me to mail her all the pictures so she can scan them or whatever but I’m afraid I’ll never get them back. Is it wrong of me to think she lost her right to them when she walked out on us all those years ago?
If you want to be the bigger person you could scan them to a disc and keep the originals. She should be content with that since she was going to return them to you anyway.
No I don’t want to at all. She can suffer. BTW what’s this “love button” I see now?

Ive been here going on 4 years and there are still boxes of pictures, and what not in the garage. Meh.. Im in no hurry.

I’ve lived in a nice brick ranch-style house we built in 1987 and I’ve never cleaned out a closet or a drawer. Am I a bad person?
Bad? No way. A procrastinator like me? For sure. But that’s OK. It’s the biggest club around, probably most everyone you know is a member.
