It’s Saturday afternoon and my eyes are beginning to cross. I just finished a spreadsheet that contains our LP inventory. When I was finished I’d listed 362 LP’s, the artist and the genre. Of course we have many, many more that weren’t included in the inventory. After they were inventoried, they were alphabetized in crates.
Overall we looked at over 500 LP’s that we have here in the last day and a half.
(Now you know why our house looks like an art farm. There is stuff- EVERYWHERE!)
Those that we’ve already decided to made into LP pots, are just having their labels used, or are being cut into shapes aren’t being listed in the inventory. The inventory is just so that we know what we have when people make special requests for wall art.
When the Ecofab site goes live everyone will be able to peruse our inventory and see if we already have an LP that they’d like turned into a piece of art for themselves or someone else. Today I’m painting and shaping a Beatles album. After that I’m working on a Rod Stewart album which I’ll ship out on Monday for someone else.
What people like is being able to not only pick the artist, but the colors and how it’s finished as well. It’s a totally customizable piece of art. Some choose their favorite colors, some want the piece to match their décor. Some people want glitter on it, some don’t.
They’ll never be two pieces that are identical and people really like that.
At a recent event one woman saw a piece I’d done. It was The Lovin Spoonful.
She said “Oh My God! This was playing the first time I had sex! “ She immediately took it down and paid for it.
I assumed by her reaction that it brought back happy memories for her. And although some would consider that TMI, it made me smile.
If we have a 10×10 space we usually have up about 20-25 transformed LP’s on the wall. It’s fun to watch people as they look at all them and hear them reminisce.
“My folks listened to this all the time when I was growing up.” or “We played this at our wedding.”
Sometimes we cut the albums into shapes.
Both albums that we’ve painted or cut into shapes can also be made into clocks.
I was going to get Doug to set up the photo box so I could take a quick photo of a wall piece for this post. However, apparently something vile has taken up residence in his posterior and right now I wouldn’t ask him to spit on me if I was on fire. I just hope it relocates soon.
We’re not really good at fighting I guess because we don’t do it very often. Lucky for him I’m back on Effexor or things could’ve gotten a lot uglier than they have so far. I’m usually pretty easy going but once I’ve had enough I can become the Queen of Snarky.
And the Queen is here right now- in Spades.
(Sometimes being with your spouse 24 hours/ 7 days a week/ 365 days a year can be unwonderful to be sure.)
This is one of those times.
Today we were supposed to be back at Discovery Green today for Discovery Flea. However the event was cancelled due to bad weather. So instead I got on the phone and hustled up a couple of other places we could go tomorrow for a few hours with all Ecofab goodies. Hopefully we’ll be able to at least cover what we woulda made today.
And to be honest I’m looking forward to the break away from him.
Also, I went to Intuit and started fiddling around with the templates there so we could have an Ecofab site sometime before my demise.
I worked about 20 minutes and then called Doug over.
“It looks plain.”
WTF does he want?
Naked dancing ladies?
It’s a retail site for God’s sake.
I knew it was on the plain side. But I thought that we needed to have our products leap off the page, not be hidden by everything else. That’s why I chose a plainer background. I tried to explaining it to him. Of course the fact that I was an art director for 15 years and had designed beaucoup annual reports and magazine ads didn’t matter at all to him.
At any rate, after we get back tomorrow afternoon I’m going back to Intuit and keep at it for a bit.
Tuesday I’m going to go to a local bar and face paint for 4 hours for Fat Tuesday. In reality I’d just about rather kiss a snake than paint like than anymore; but the last time I did it, it was almost $500, so I can’t afford not to go.
I take four Alleve before I go and 2 that night before bed. If I’m lucky I won’t be totally crippled for the following three days as punishment for over using my arm yet again. BTW- I will take photos while I’m there. I’ll even post them by Thursday.
I wish I had more exciting news, but sadly I do not. I’m doing nothing but working these days- all day every day, into the night. I’m even dreaming about work.
This just better be worth it all worth in the long run.
So I hope you guys have been doing something fun since I haven’t.
What’s up? Please share something fun so I can live vicariously through you guys.
