Well my yesterday sucked the really huge wahoo, but I’m not ready to discuss it yet, so I’m just gonna cop out and post another disturbing photo for everyone to enjoy. So here you go-

I’m starting something new- The Bizarrometer- and we’ll use the infamous photo of the naked people holding the cats as a point of reference. If they are a score of 100. Then how does the photo below rate?

Please give it a score and explain why you scored it that way.

I will wait 48 hrs. after the posting to average the scores then post to the Bizarrometer.

I saw a model named Lizzie Miller interviewed on TV last week. I thought by now all the buzz over her had all settled down. However, since I saw it on CNN.com today I guess she’s still big news. For those who don’t know, Lizzie Miller is a plus size model who was photographed nude while sitting with her legs crossed. Do you know what was in the photo for all to see? Was was making her so news worthy? She was leaning forward a bit and her stomach was pooching out for all to see. Mind you, this was not a Jabba the Hut stomach, just a small pooch. She also has thighs with a reasonable amount of meat on them. They look like they could actually get her somewhere more than down a runway. How many of us could sit that way without some bit of pooch at least?

I watched the interview closely and have read much of the press about the photo since that time. There has been overwhelming support for a model who looks like what most people would perceive as “normal” or “healthy”. Lizzie isn’t sitting there with hollow cheeks and her hip bones jutting out through her skin, looking like she’s ready to kill for a cheeseburger or rack of ribs. She is totally comfortable with her body the way it is. Good for her.

Let’s hope society is changing and is willing to start embracing a healthier and more realistic vision of what a woman should look like instead of looking like these anorexic and unhealthy girls that most of the designers make their clothes for. (Personally I know only two women that wear pants in a size that is a single digit). Let us not also forget that the camera adds 10 lbs so the women that look slim, but healthy in photographs are in reality much thinner than they appear in the photos. Check out this photo of Jessica Alba before and after airbrushing-It’s been said that she has the best body in Hollywood. Apparently though her body was still not considered good enough. The art director wanted her waist smaller still, her thighs a little more toned. (I guess he hasn’t embraced the natural, healthy look as yet.) BTW- Lizzie is busier than ever and has been told not to lose a pound. How often does a model ever hear that?

Curves are coming back in vogue. It’s about time. All of us who don’t look like boys-rejoice! The answer to today’s trivia question: The S & H Green Stamps rewards catalog

My Facebook photo

I think most of us are creatures of habit. My morning routine is pretty much the same 6 days a week. First I check my email, then I go to CNN.com to see what’s been happening in the world. Finally, I read USAtoday.com to see what CNN didn’t deem important enough to cover. After all that, I usually do the USA today crossword and Brainiversity in attempt to keep my ancient neurons talking to each other.

Of course, if I’ve gotten a message from gmail that says I have a Facebook message then I go directly there and check it out. I’ve been on Facebook for a year or so now. Brett AKA Beef, urged me to set up my page. (Frankly, I hadn’t really felt any pressing need to do so.) I thought that the people in my life had plenty of ways to find me already. However, following his advice I went ahead and set up my page. You only put details on your page that you’re comfy with being made public. You can also post a photo of yourself or anything else if you wish. As you may have surmised, my photo isn’t exactly “current”. (However it is my best photo ever.)

I must say that it’s been interesting. People that I hadn’t thought of in years have “friended” me. “Friended” means that somehow they’ve found/seen you on Facebook and would like to get back in touch. You have to “confirm” them as a friend before they can leave you a message or see your entire page . I’ve read that the average number of “friends” on Facebook is around 100. I have 61. Beef has 861. (Of course I’m not the social butterfly that he is.)

A lot of the baby boomers I know see no reason to do any social networking of any kind. But overall I’d say that it’s been a positive experience for me. I’m just trying to stay at least a little connected to what’s going on with the MTV Generation so I can relate to my kids world. Do you Facebook?
