My MIL’s name is Betty. She’s the only Betty I actually know.  I do know Betty Crocker, at least her brownie mix, that is. Betty White I don’t actually know however, I admire her spunk. (I hope I can be like her when I’m much, much older). Anyway, you just don’t hear the name Betty very much anymore. I think most people consider it an old-fashioned name these days. So when I heard about this new product that came out awhile ago ago I was kinda surprised that it was named “Betty”.

For those of you not in the know, Betty is color for the hair “down there”. Yep, that hair. To be perfectly honest, prior to seeing this product discussed on the TV show the Doctors I really hadn’t given any thought to the the color of my carpeting, so to speak. (Actually, even now it isn’t something that’s keeping me up nights or anything). However, a newsletter I subscribe to had an article about it today so I guess people are still interested in it so here we are.

Apparently for some time people have been trying to use dye made for the hair on their heads to dye their carpeting too, with not-so-good results. I guess this may be more important for those folks still out in the dating world and perhaps trying to woo someone let’s say that is “younger”. I mean if you look like Wayne Newton up top and you look like you’re ready to harvest a field of cotton below, that might be disconcerting or off-putting to some I suppose.

Actually the company, Betty Beauty, calls the carpeting “Betty” and the products they sell are named “Auburn Betty, Blonde Betty, etc.” (I’m sure you all get the idea). So, one of the problems that has plagued society for eons has now not only been addressed but fixed. Move over Jonas Salk! The Betty beauty line comes in a wide array of colors as you can see when you go to their website.  With the addition of their two newest colors- blue and lilac they’ve just about have the whole ROYGBIV thing going on. So, if you’re gay and proud, or just into rainbows, you can show it everywhere and anywhere you like.

You can even purchase stencils from them in various designs if just having the color alone isn’t enough for you. I’m particularly fond of the $ sign. (They’ve really got to come out with a Green Betty for that). I mean if you’re really into $, you might as well get that out there right away. I’m assuming seeing a $ on a Betty would alleviate all doubt. (I do wonder though if you’d be more likely to be picked up for soliciting). Always wanted to know if blondes really have more fun? Now you can try it out and see for yourself. Does your significant other have a thing for Nicole Kidman? Well, there you go- his fantasy fulfilled if he doesn’t move too far away that is.

Now, even that crazy televangelist woman with the pink hair and Tammy Faye Baker makeup on Channel 14 can have her carpet match her drapes. I bet she doesn’t even know that’s a possibility. It’s my duty to let her know that. I think I’ll drop her a line. According to what I’ve just read this product debuted way back in 2006. Where was I? Oprah even had one of her people give it a go last summer. You know it’s gotta be big if Oprah had it checked out. I think for now though, I’ll pass. Doug seems content enough with re-runs. However, that’s not to say I’m not encouraging anybody else not to go for it. Whatever floats your boat and all… If anyone does though, please come back and leave me a comment. In Unforgettable gifts #2 I featured the ever popular Peekaboo Dance Pole. That post had a lot of comments and later emails so when I read about this product again today I thought what a great gift for those who are giving the pole already. Also, it’ll be so much easier to wrap. Now I don’t want everybody getting all puffed up over this. (I realize that this won’t be appropiate for all pole dancers).
